Liu Jianchao Meets with Bertrand Lortholary, French Ambassador to China

Beijing, September 27th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Bertrand Lortholary, French Ambassador to China.

Liu said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-France relations have maintained a high level of development, with stability, strategy and globality becoming the prominent features of bilateral relations. 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as the China-France Year of Culture and Tourism. The Chinese side is willing to work together with the French side to plan relevant celebrations, so as to add impetus to the sustained development of bilateral relations, inject vitality into the healthy and stable development of China-Europe relations, and inject more stability and certainty into a turbulent and intertwined world.

Bertrand Lortholary said that high-level exchanges between the two countries have been fully restarted this year, and President Emmanuel Macron has reached important consensus with President Xi Jinping on the development of France-China relations during his successfully visit to China. Premier Li Qiang's visit to France and attendance at the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact, together with the successful ninth China-France High Level Economic and Financial Dialogue, promoted the deepening of practical cooperation between the two countries in various fields. The French side is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges with the Chinese side, jointly host successful celebrations for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year, and join hands to tackle global challenges.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
