Liu Jianchao Meets with Emilio Lozada Garcia, Head of the International Relations Department of the PCC Central Committee

Beijing, October 16th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee met here today with Emilio Lozada Garcia, head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC).

Liu Jianchao said that under the strategic guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping and First Secretary Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez, China-Cuba relations have maintained a sound development momentum. Not long ago, Comrade Li Xi, as the special representative of President Xi Jinping, attended the Group of 77 and China Summit in Havana and led the CPC delegation to finish a successful visit to Cuba. A month later, you come to China to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. These all reflect the great importance both sides attach to developing the relations between the two Parties and countries as well as the high level development of the relations between the two Parties.

The CPC is ready to work with the PCC to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and countries to strength political mutual trust, carry out in-depth exchanges of experience in party building and state governance, and firmly support each other on issues involving the core interests of both sides. The Chinese side opposes unilateral sanctions imposed by other countries and supports termination of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba. Liu expressed the belief that Cuba will achieve new development in socialism cause and the Chinese side is willing to provide assistance within its capabilities to Cuba for improvement of people's livelihood.

Lozada said he is very pleased to attend the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in China and wished the Forum a complete success. Cuba and China are good friends, comrades and brothers. Since the state visit of First Secretary Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez to China last year, the two sides have made remarkable cooperation achievements. At present, the bilateral relations are restored at a faster pace after the pandemic with closer mutual visits and exchanges at all levels across the board. The Cuban side is satisfied with the development of the special friendship between the two Parties and countries and the fruitful results of bilateral cooperation gained in various fields.

The inter-party relations are an important cornerstone of the Cuba-China relations. The International Relations Department of the PCC Central Committee attaches great importance to strengthening communication and coordination with the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and jointly promoting the implementation of the important consensus reached by top leaders of the two Parties and countries. The Cuban side attaches importance to enhancing cooperation with the Chinese side in such fields as economy, trade, finance, locality, and tourism. Chinese enterprises are welcome to invest in Cuba to boost Cuba's development. The Cuban side firmly supports China's principled position on the Taiwan question and other issues. He hoped that the two sides will strengthen international cooperation and safeguard the interests of developing countries together.
