Zhao Shitong Meets with a Delegation Led by Yukio Hatoyama, Former Prime Minister and Leader of the Democratic Party of Japan

Beijing, October 16th—Zhao Shitong, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today on the afternoon with a delegation led by Yukio Hatoyama, former Prime Minister and leader of the Democratic Party of Japan.

Zhao said, this year marks the tenth anniversary of building a community with a shared future for mankind and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. The practice of the past ten years has proved that building a community with a shared future for mankind conforms to the trend of the times and is in the fundamental interests of all countries. It is hoped that China and Japan will work together to promote of China-Japan relations for healthy and stable development and actively contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Hatoyama said, I highly agree with and actively support the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and the BRI proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. I am willing to continue to uphold the spirit of amicability and friendship and vigorously promote exchanges and cooperation between Japan and China, as well as among Japan, China and the Republic of Korea, promote the construction of an East Asia Community, and respond to common challenges facing the region and the world.
