Liu said in his keynote speech that one of the most important features of the current world with profound changes unseen in a century is the collective rise of developing countries, while realizing modernization is the common pursuit of the Global South countries. The Global South holds the hope for the world with profound changes unseen in a century, and serves as the leading force in emerging globalization, the foundation of a multi-polar world, and a key force in the democratization of international relations. Jointly promoting modernization is the inevitable path for the Global South to unite and thrive. The Global South must further unite, break the "curse" of modernization that "the weak will always be weak", get rid of the modernization "myth" of "modernization equals to Westernization", and send out a strong modernization message of “the greatest ideal is to create a world truly shared by all”.

Liu said, General Secretary Xi Jinping clearly pointed out that as a developing country and a member of the Global South, China cares about the Global South, breathes the same breath with other Global South countries and pursues a shared future with them. In the face of the rapidly-changing international situation, China will adhere to the development concepts of "amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness", "sincerity, real results, amity, and good faith", "equality, mutual benefit and common development", and firmly stand together with the Global South countries. China will work with the Global South countries to explore new modernization paths that suit respective national conditions, promote high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road cooperation, implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, practice true multilateralism, advocate greater democracy in international relations, and gather great strength for realizing world modernization and a community with a shared future for mankind.

Zhao said, as the world's largest developing country and a member of the Global South, China, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, has successfully promoted and expanded Chinese modernization and created a new form of human advancement. The development of Fujian in the new era is a vivid epitome of Chinese modernization and also provides a useful model for think tanks of the Global South to study modernization. Fujian is willing to give full play to its local advantages and, through the Xiamen BRICS innovation base think tank cooperation alliance platform, promote deeper cooperation in think tanks of the Global South as well as cooperation in education, culture, sports, tourism and other fields, and make more contributions to the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road cooperation and a community with a shared future for mankind.

Foreign guests spoke highly of the great achievements made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC in economic and social development, especially in the eradication of absolute poverty. Calling China an important member of the Global South, they said, the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping has injected strong impetus into world development, and Chinese modernization has provided important inspiration and reference for Global South countries. They expressed the willingness to promote the implementation of the three major global initiatives to jointly create a better future.

Nomvula Mokonyane, First Deputy Secretary-General of the African National Congress of South Africa said, we are in an evolving era in which geopolitics are realigning rapidly, the balance of power is shifting, and the Global South is gaining a greater say in global affairs. Not long ago, the 15th BRICS Summit was successfully held in South Africa, during which a series of groundbreaking decisions were made. These decisions help promote the establishment of a more equal, just and representative world order and ensure that the voices of the Global South are no longer suppressed, silenced or excluded. The destiny of Africa is closely related to the destiny of the world, especially the Global South. We are willing to learn from China's experience in an in-depth manner, work hard to resolve limitations in the implementation of policies, and achieve lasting peace, security, and sustainable development.

Azizi Abdujabbor Abdukahhor, First Deputy Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan (PDPT) said, the Global South countries are increasingly growing in strength. By 2030, three of the top four economies in the world will be the Global South countries, and the economic dominance of the G7 countries is a thing of the past. The Global South, as a rising economic and political force, challenges traditional balances of power. Facing the new situation, countries should adjust strategies, adapt to changes, promote mutual learning of experience with developed and developing countries, and promote common prosperity and development.

Fabio El Khouri of the Perseu Abramo Foundation from Brazil said, we live in an interconnected world. For all countries, strengthening cooperation among countries is not optional, but something we must do. The Global South unites developing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, letting them jointly raise a strong voice of the times and usher in a new era of progress, prosperity and democracy towards modernization. The traditional North-South development paradigm, which always portrayed the Global South as the recipient of aid from the North, has changed dramatically. The Global South should seize the opportunity, strengthen unity, share knowledge, skills and resources, and jointly build a prosperous, equal and sustainable world.

Chinese and foreign guests present also had in-depth discussions centering on such topics as "building a BRICS cooperation mechanism and releasing the potential of South-South cooperation", "promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations and safeguarding the diverse civilizations of mankind", "shaping the development environment of the Global South countries and reforming the global governance system", "building a green Global South and promoting low carbon transformation", and "building a healthy Global South and deepening health cooperation".
