Guo Yezhou Meets with Ian Borg, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta

Beijing, November 3rd—Guo Yezhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today on the afternoon with Ian Borg, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta.

Guo spoke positively of China-Malta relations and inter-party exchanges, saying that China is comprehensively promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through Chinese modernization, which will bring more opportunities to Malta and other countries. President Xi Jinping announced eight major steps China will take to support high-quality Belt and Road cooperation at the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The Chinese side is willing to continue to deepen cooperation between the two countries under the Belt and Road framework, enhance people-to-people connectivity, deepen inter-party exchanges, strengthen international coordination, and promote the healthy and stable development of China-Malta and China-EU relations.

Borg said, the Maltese side firmly adheres to the one-China principle. Committed to the Belt and Road cooperation with the Chinese side, the Maltese side continues to deepen cooperation between the two countries in various fields such as economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and health, strengthen inter-party exchanges, adheres to multilateralism, and push the development of Malta-China and EU-China relations.
