Liu Jianchao Meets with Mohsen Bakhtiar, Iranian Ambassador to China

Beijing, November 21st—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Mohsen Bakhtiar, Iranian Ambassador to China.

Liu said, President Xi Jinping and President Ebrahim Raisi met twice this year and reached a series of important consensus on China-Iran cooperation, leading China-Iran relations to a new level. The CPC is willing to work with the Iranian side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen communication and exchanges, deepen the exchanges of experience in state governance and administration, enhance mutual trust, and promote practical cooperation. The Chinese side supports Iran in playing its role in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS cooperation mechanism and is willing to strengthen coordination with the Iranian side to safeguard the common interests of developing countries and international fairness and justice.

Bakhtiar said, the current high-level exchanges between Iran and China are close, with rich cooperation in various fields. Cooperation between local governments and youth has become a new highlight. Recently, Ardabil Province and Qinghai Province have become sister provinces and are committed to leveraging their complementary advantages to achieve common development. The Iranian side attaches importance to strengthening mutual visits and exchanges between political parties and political organizations with the Chinese side and promoting the development of the Iran-China comprehensive strategic partnership. The Iranian Embassy in China is willing to play an active role in this regard. Bakhtiar thanked the Chinese side for supporting Iran in joining the BRICS and other multilateral mechanisms, and expressed the willingness to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side.

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues.
