 ( 2023.11.30 )

Beijing, November 22nd—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee(IDCPC), met here today with a New Komeito Party delegation led by Natsuo Yamaguchi, Leader of the New Komeito Party of Japan.

Liu said, Natsuo Yamaguchi's visit comes shortly after the meeting between General Secretary Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in San Francisco. It marks the resumption of offline high-level exchanges between the ruling parties of the two countries after a four-year gap and holds special significance. Currently, China-Japan relations face an opportunity of improvement. Both sides should seize the opportunity and implement the important consensus reached by General Secretary Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and bring China-Japan relations back to the track of sound and stable development. In recent years, China-Japan relations have encountered some problems, but the driving force behind the development of bilateral relations has not disappeared. Peaceful coexistence, long standing friendship, mutually beneficial cooperation, and common development between China and Japan are in line with the fundamental interests of the two peoples. It is hoped that the Japanese side will properly handle major sensitive issues such as the Taiwan Question and the discharge of Fukushima nuclear-contaminated wastewater, address public concerns, eliminate disturbances for the improvement and development of China-Japan relations, and jointly promote peace, stability, and development in the region and the world.

The CPC attaches importance to exchanges with the New Komeito Party and believes that the New Komeito Party will inherit and carry forward the spirit of "constantly consolidating the golden bridge of China-Japan friendship", and will continue to take developing relations with China as an important mission, making positive efforts to overcome difficulties and bring China-Japan relations forward. The CPC is willing to strengthen dialogue and  communication, exchange and learn from each other on governance concepts and practices with the New Komeito Party, promote exchanges between women, youth and other sectors, and advance bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Natsuo Yamaguchi said, he is glad to visit China right after the meeting between the leaders of the two countries in San Francisco. The New Komeito Party is willing to continue efforts to build the "golden bridge" of Japan-China relations. The current Japan-China relations are indeed facing some problems, which need to be faced with an honest attitude from both sides. Various sectors in Japan are paying close attention to and expecting improvement in Japan-China relations. It is hoped that the two sides will cherish the current opportunity of the development of bilateral relations, strengthen exchanges and dialogue, enhance people-to-people friendship and push for further development of bilateral cooperation.

Zhao Shitong, Assistant-minister of the IDCPC, and others attended the meeting.
