Canberra, November 29th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Jan Adams, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia.

Liu said, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Prime Minister Gough Whitlam's visit to China, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited China and reached new and important consensus with President Xi Jinping on the development of bilateral relations, providing strategic guidance for the further development of China-Australia relations. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Australian side to well implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, continue to strengthen high-level exchanges, and safeguard the healthy and stable development of China-Australia relations. Both sides need to give full play to the complementary advantages of the two countries' economic structures, expand practical cooperation, and provide support for China-Australia relations. We need to deeply understand that the hope of China-Australia friendship lies in the people, deepen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and consolidate the public opinion foundation of China-Australia relations. Both sides need to inject more regional and global perspectives into the relationship between the two countries, jointly safeguard international and regional peace and stability, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Liu noted, there are no historical grievances or fundamental conflicts of interest between China and Australia. The two sides should view each other objectively, calmly and friendly, recognize that China and Australia are partners, not rivals, recognize that each other's development is opportunities rather than threats, stick to the general direction of the development of Australia-Australia relations, strengthen dialogue in the spirit of mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual understanding, enhance understanding, properly manage differences, and ensure the sustained, healthy and stable development of China-Australia relations.

Jan Adams said, the Australian side is satisfied with the results of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's visit to China and thanks the Chinese side for its warm and thoughtful arrangements for this visit. Attaching great importance to its relations with China, the Australian side is glad to see the restoration of Australia-China relations, and hopes to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with the Chinese side on the basis of this visit and promote the implementation of the results achieved during the visit. The Australian side supports China in achieving economic development and improving people's living standards, and believes that the Chinese people have the right to live a happier life. Regarding the differences between Australia and China, mutual understanding should be increased through in-depth communication instead of amplifying differences through labeling and other methods. The Australian side pays much attention to the role of political party exchanges in bilateral relations and is willing to maintain communication with the IDCPC to jointly promote the development of Australia-China relations.

Both sides also exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and other topics.

Kathy Klugman, International Advisor to the Australian Prime Minister, Scott Dewar, Ambassador-designate to China, and others were present.
