Liu said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany, relations between the two countries have maintained healthy and stable development for a long time, benefiting both countries and peoples. Since November last year, President Xi Jinping and Chancellor Olaf Scholz have had several in-depth exchanges, charting the course for the future development of bilateral relations. The Chinese side is willing to work with the German side to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and continuously enrich the connotation of China-Germany all-round strategic partnership. China and the EU are about to hold the first offline leaders' meeting since the epidemic. It is hoped that both sides will enhance mutual understanding through dialogue, send a signal of cooperation, and demonstrate the independent value of China-EU relations. Germany plays an important role in the EU. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen exchanges with the German side on China-EU relations and promote China-EU relations for stable development in the long term.

Liu welcomed Wadephul and his delegation, saying that the CDU/CSU is an important political force in Germany. The CPC and the CDU/CSU have maintained the tradition of friendly exchanges and played a unique role in promoting the development of relations between the two countries. The Chinese side is willing to intensify high-level exchanges with the CDU/CSU, deepen exchanges and dialogues, increase trust and dispel doubts, build consensus, strengthen youth and local exchanges and cooperation, and make greater contributions to the healthy and stable development of China-Germany relations.

Wadephul said, Germany and China have different political systems and governing philosophies, but this does not prevent the two sides from strengthening exchanges and cooperation. The CDU/CSU is ready to maintain friendly exchanges and cooperation with the CPC, and hopes to inherit the tradition and promote the development of Germany-China relations. The CDU/CSU opposes trade protectionism and supports trade liberalization, believing that closer Germany-China economic and trade relations are in the common interests of both sides. It is hoped that China, a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, will play a greater role in resolving international and regional hotspot issues. The German side looks forward to the success of the upcoming EU-China leaders' meeting and expects it to send a positive signal to the world.
