Zhao Shitong Attends the Fourth Belt and Road China-Malaysia Business Dialogue

On December 15th, the fourth Belt and Road China-Malaysia Business Dialogue was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Zhao Shitong, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Chan Yaodong, Vice Secretary General of Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, Dato Sri Dr. Irmohizam Ibrahim, Treasurer of United Malays National Organization, Dato Lim Kah Chuan, Deputy President of Association of Belt and Road Malaysia and others attended and addressed the function.

Zhao said, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. China and Malaysia have achieved positive results in practical cooperation in various fields under the framework of the BRI. Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia. The business communities of China and Malaysia should actively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, actively promote the joint construction of China- Malaysia community with a shared future, benefit the two peoples, and promote regional peaceful development. Chan said, as an important window for China's opening up to the outside world, Shenzhen is willing to continuously deepen exchanges and cooperation with local governments and enterprises of BRI partner countries including Malaysia, and play its role as an important node city in connecting domestic and international circulations.

Ibrahim said, the joint construction of the BRI between Malaysia and China is of great significance, and the economic and trade cooperation is fruitful. The Malaysian side is willing to give full play to the strengths of political parties and non-governmental organizations to push Belt and Road cooperation between Malaysia and China for greater results. Lim said, the Malaysian business community speaks highly of the "political party + practical cooperation" platform and is willing to work with China's local governments and enterprises to strengthen exchanges and promote practical cooperation in various fields for stronger development and more fruits.

Themed on "Silk Road Integration, Win-Win Cooperation: Consensus and Innovation in the Chinese and Malaysia Business Community", the fourth Belt and Road China-Malaysia Business Dialogue was co-organized by the China Economic Cooperation Center and the Association of Belt and Road Malaysia, and was attended by over 200 representatives from political parties, government departments, local governments, and business communities from China and Malaysia. During the conference, 12 pairs of Chinese and Malaysian enterprises, including UnionPay International and Malaysia's PayNet, as well as a foreign trade corporation of Xingtang county, Hebei Province and the Association of Belt and Road Malaysia, signed cooperation intentions or agreements. All parties actively participated in the Belt and Road cooperation. And the dialogue achieved fruitful and practical results.
