Liu Jianchao Holds Discussions with Former US Political Heavyweights and Representatives from the Financial and Business Communities

New York, January 9th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, held discussions here today on the afternoon with former US political heavyweights and representatives from the financial and business communities on China-US relations. Ray Dalio, Founder of Bridgewater Associates, Robert Edward Rubin, former US Secretary of the Treasury and Timothy Geithner, former US Secretary of the Treasury, Robert Hormats, former Under Secretary of State, and Allison, Professor of Harvard University.

Liu was invited to provide a brief overview of China's modern history and the development of the CPC. Both sides agreed that learning China's modern history and the history of the CPC is beneficial for enhancing understanding of China's domestic and foreign policies. While there are differences in political and social systems between China and the US, both countries are major global powers, and their policies have significant impacts on each other and the rest of the world. Both sides held in-depth discussions on how to advance the next phase of China-US relations, emphasizing the need to strengthen communication, enhance mutual understanding and trust, reduce suspicion and misunderstanding, and strive for the stable development of bilateral relations.
