Liu Jianchao Meets with Kenji Kanasugi, Newly-appointed Japanese Ambassador to China

Beijing, January 24th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Kenji Kanasugi, newly-appointed Japanese Ambassador to China.

Liu welcomed Kenji Kanasugi to China for his new post. Liu said that in November of last year, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in San Francisco, US, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to comprehensively promoting a strategic relationship of mutual benefit between China and Japan, charting the course for both sides' efforts. Recently, The Chinese side received Natsuo Yamaguchi, Leader of New Komeito Party of Japan, and Mizuho Fukushima, Leader of the Social Democratic Party of Japan, having candid and in-depth exchanges on China-Japan relations. The Chinese side is comprehensively advancing the building of a stronger nation and rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through a Chinese path to modernization. We adhere to the path of peaceful development, and will contribute to the prosperity, stability, and development of the surrounding areas and the world. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen exchanges with Japanese political parties and people from all walks of life, abide by the principles and consensus of the four political documents between China and Japan, respect each other's core interests and major concerns, and shape up objective and positive mutual understanding, so as to play an active role in promoting cooperation in various fields between the two countries and advancing the building of China-Japan relations that meet the needs of the new era.

Kenji Kanasugi said he is honored to serve as the new Japanese Ambassador to China. Last year, the leaders of the two countries met in San Francisco, reaching important consensus and reconfirming the positioning of a strategic relationship of mutual benefit, and the decision of jointly building a stable and constructive China-Japan relationship. Exchanges between political parties and parliaments are an important part of Japan-China relations, and the International Department of the CPC Central Committee has played an important role in promoting exchanges between political parties and enhancing friendship between the two countries. It is hoped that Japan and China will strengthen exchanges in various fields including the government, political parties and parliaments, resume personnel exchanges as soon as possible, and enhance mutual understanding, mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation.
