Liu Jianchao Meets with Pradeep Kumar Rawat, Indian Ambassador to China

Beijing, January 24th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Pradeep Kumar Rawat, Indian Ambassador to China.

Liu said, China and India are neighbors, emerging economies and major developing countries. The improvement of China-India relations will not only help create a sound external environment for the accelerated development of the two countries, but also contribute to regional and global peace, stability and development. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Indian side to strengthen exchanges and dialogue between the 1.4 billion Chinese and 1.4 billion Indian people in accordance with the positioning of bilateral relations by the leaders of the two countries, increase mutual trust and reduce misgivings, and create a sound environment for practical cooperation between the two sides. It is hoped that the two sides will attach importance to and accommodate each other's major concerns, help each other succeed in the path of modernization and development, and strengthen unity in international and regional affairs. The Chinese side is willing to maintain friendly exchanges with Indian political parties and jointly bring bilateral relations back to the track of sound and stable development at an early date under the new circumstances.

Pradeep Kumar Rawat said, India-China friendship has a long history and bilateral relations are of great importance. Following the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping, the Indian side is willing to work with the Chinese side to seek common ground while reserving differences, and enhance exchanges and cooperation. Differences are not the mainstream of India-China relations, and it is hoped that both sides can find a way to cooperate and coexist, moving forward hand in hand to bring benefits to the peoples of both countries and contribute to regional and global peace and development. Pradeep Kumar Rawat extended his best wishes to the Chinese people for a happy Spring Festival.
