Liu Jianchao Meets with a MCP Delegation

Beijing, January 31st—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with a delegation led by Eisenhower Mkaka, Secretary General of Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

Liu said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malawi, relationship between the two countries has developed smoothly. In recent years, President Xi Jinping and President Lazarus Chakwera have maintained close communication, leading bilateral cooperation in various fields to continuously achieve new results. The Chinese side respects the Malawian people's right to independently choose a development path, appreciates the Malawian side's firm adherence to the one-China principle, and resolutely opposes interference in China's internal affairs. In the face of the complex and ever-changing international situation, the Chinese side is willing to work with African countries, including Malawi, to implement the three major global initiatives, jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Liu said, the CPC and the MCP are both ruling parties of developing countries. The two sides' efforts in enhancing understanding and mutual trust and strengthening friendly cooperation carry great significance for the stable and healthy development of relations between the two countries. The Chinese side is willing to further deepen experience exchanges in party building and state governance with the MCP, strengthen exchanges and cooperation between organizations of youth, women, think tanks, media, etc., and continuously enrich the connotation of cooperation between the two Parties, to achieve common development and progress.

Mkaka congratulated the CPC on leading the Chinese people to make achievements in economic and social development, particularly the world-renowned achievements in poverty alleviation, and thanked the Chinese side for the long-term support for Malawi's development. In recent years, the two heads of state have maintained close exchanges, leading to the rapid development of relations between the two countries. Malawi and China are development partners that support and trust each other. The Malawian side firmly adheres to the one-China principle and this position will never change. The MCP cherishes its friendly and cooperative relations with the CPC and hopes to strengthen exchanges between the two Parties at all levels, enhance political mutual trust, learn the experience in areas including cadre training and organizational building from the CPC, and promote practical cooperation between the two countries in such areas as the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.

On the same day, the IDCPC held an event called "seeing what mom looks like at work". Children of some female staff members were invited to visit the IDCPC to communicate with Malawian guests. The Malawian guests and the children had cordial conversations, exchanged New Year blessings, and sowed the seeds of China-Africa friendship.
