Beijing, February 2nd—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a delegation led by Gál Kinga, vice-president of Fidesz and Member of the European Parliament of Hungary.

Liu said, China and Hungary have a traditional friendship. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 75 years ago, the two countries have always carried out friendly cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and equal treatment. In 2017, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Viktor Orban jointly announced the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Hungary, opening up a new chapter in the history of China-Hungary relations. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Hungarian side to intensify high-level exchanges, build political mutual trust, continue to support each other on issues involving respective core interests and major concerns, and promote the in-depth integration of the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Hungary's "Opening to the East" policy. Hungary is China's good friend and partner in the European Union (EU). The Chinese side is willing to strengthen communication and coordination on international issues with the Hungarian side and push the development of China-EU relations.

Liu said, the CPC is uniting and leading the Chinese people to promote Chinese modernization. China's development requires a peaceful international environment, and China will work hard to create one. The CPC attaches importance to exchanges and cooperation with Fidesz, and is willing to follow the consensus of leaders of the two Parties as a guide to further intensify high-level exchanges, deepen experience exchange and mutual learning in state governance and administration, advance exchanges and dialogues between youth, think tanks, etc., build bridges for cooperation between enterprise and cooperation at local level through platforms such as "political party + locality" and "political party + economic and trade", and push China-Hungary relations to a new level.

Gál said, since Hungary and China established comprehensive strategic partnership in 2017, cooperation between the two countries in various fields has developed rapidly. Last year, Prime Minister Viktor Orban attended the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in China, reaching important consensus with President Xi Jinping, and providing strategic guidance for the development of bilateral relations. Hungary attaches great importance to its relations with China, firmly adheres to the one-China principle, and is the first European country to join the joint construction of the BRI. It hopes to deepen cooperation with the Chinese side in various fields such as economy, trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement, tourism, etc. Fidesz cherishes its friendly relations with the CPC, and hopes to intensify exchanges between the two Parties and expand exchanges and cooperation among youth, think tanks and local governments to boost the development of bilateral relations. The Hungarian side hopes to play its role as a bridge connecting the East and the West and push the development of EU-China relations. Gál wished the Chinese people a happy New Year of the Dragon.
