Beijing, March 26th—Sun Haiyan, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today on the morning with a delegation of the Canada-China Legislative Association.

Sun said, China-Canada relations had long been at the forefront of China's relations with Western countries. The difficult situation faced by China-Canada relations in recent years is not in line with the interests of the two countries. Both sides should strengthen communication and exchanges in various fields and at all levels, improve mutual understanding, promote cooperation in such areas as green development and technology, strengthen coordination on addressing global challenges and international and regional hotspot issues, and constantly expand common interests. It is hoped that the Canada-China Legislative Association will continue to play a positive role in enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries and promoting the stable development of China-Canada relations.

The Canadian side thanked the Chinese side for the in-depth and candid dialogue. They said, the Canadian side attaches great importance to Canada-China relations. Despite differences between the two sides, as long as mutual respect and equal treatment are upheld, bilateral relations can be brought back to the right track. The Canada-China Legislative Association is willing to promote exchanges between political parties and legislative bodies of the two countries and make more efforts to improve Canada-China relations.
