Singapore, March 26th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Lawrence Wong, Deputy Secretary-General of the People's Action Party (PAP), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance of Singapore.  

Liu said, last year, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong jointly established the new positioning of China-Singapore all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations in the new era. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Singaporean side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and push bilateral relations to a newer and higher stage. The two sides should maintain a correct strategic understanding, continue to expand and deepen cooperation, tap into the potential for cooperation in areas such as future-oriented industries and emerging industries, strengthen strategic docking of response to climate change, green development, etc., and intensify coordination and cooperation on international and regional issues. The prosperity and development of China and ASEAN is attributable to the long-term peace and stability of the region. Both sides should work together to be staunch defenders and promoters of peaceful development in the turbulent and constantly changing international landscape.  

Liu said, despite different national conditions and Party conditions, China and Singapore have many similarities in the process of the long-term governance and governance philosophies, and a common mission of better serving the people and pursuing independence and prosperity. The CPC is willing to strengthen institutionalized exchanges with the PAP, deepen exchanges and mutual learning of concepts and practical experience of party building and state governance, promote friendship between the two countries and practical cooperation in various fields, especially strengthen communication and exchanges between youth, so that China-Singapore relations will be inherited and full of vitality.  

Lawrence Wong said, with a profound social and cultural foundation, Singapore-China relations have enjoyed sound development since the establishment of diplomatic relations over 30 years ago, laying a solid foundation for the two countries to strengthen cooperation in various areas. The Singaporean side noticed that China determined its major tasks for economic and social development at the just-concluded "Two Sessions", which will effectively promote China's modernization drive and enable the Singaporean side to better understand China's development goals. The Singaporean side is willing to work with the Chinese side to give full play to the coordinating role of the Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation in the cooperation between the two countries, continue to strengthen cooperation on large projects, and in the meantime, expand cooperation in new areas such as digital economy and low-carbon technology to intensify ties between the two countries in all aspects. Founded on trade, Singapore does not want to see a fragmented market in the world. The Singaporean side advocates the construction of an open and inclusive world, supports economic globalization, open and free trade, and supports strengthening the role of the World Trade Organization, and multilateralism. Calling relations between political parties an important part of state-to-state relations, he said the PAP is willing to strengthen communication and exchanges with the CPC, deepen understanding of respective development concepts and strategies, promote exchanges in all sectors including youth and women, and boost relations between the two countries.
