Singapore, March 27th—Lee Hsien Loong, Secretary-General of the People's Action Party (PAP )and Prime Minister of Singapore, met here today with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.  

Lee welcomed the CPC delegation to visit Singapore, and said, Singapore-China relations enjoy sound development. Last year, I visited China and determined the new positioning of bilateral relations with President Xi Jinping. Currently, high-level visits between the two countries are frequent, with remarkable results from the Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation meetings, continuous advancement in major cooperation projects such as the Suzhou Industrial Park and close personnel exchanges at all levels. Regarding China as an important partner, Singapore is optimistic about China's development prospects and believes that China has many development advantages and strong economic resilience. China will not see a so-called "peak" and can maintain rapid growth for a long period of time. Singapore supports the development of ASEAN-China relations. In fact, all ASEAN countries hope to maintain sound relations with China. China is crucial for openness and development in Southeast Asia. China-US relations are the most important bilateral relations in the world. The Singaporean side is pleased with the positive results achieved at the summit meeting between Chinese and US Presidents in San Francisco. The stable and constructive development of China-US relations is in the interest of all countries in the world, including Singapore. The Singaporean side will continue to value and promote the inter-party relations between the PAP and the CPC, encourage both sides to strengthen exchanges and communication, and enhance mutual understanding and trust, so as to promote the further development of bilateral relations.  

Liu said, that the CPC and the PAP have maintained long-term friendly exchanges. The Chinese side is happy to see that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has led Singapore to continuously achieve major development achievements in the past 20 years, and China-Singapore relations have also reached new heights. China is comprehensively advancing Chinese modernization. This year's “Two Sessions” emphasized the need to adhere to high-quality development and develop new quality productive forces to inject new impetus into China's development. China's economy will remain on a positive trajectory over the long run, and China's adherence to high-level opening up to the outside world will not change. China will provide new development opportunities for countries around the world, including Singapore, with its new development. China-ASEAN relations are the most mature and stable relations among regional cooperation. Both sides should cherish the peaceful and stable environment in the region and promote China-ASEAN cooperation for deeper and more substantial development.
