Kuala Lumpur, March 28th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Anthony Anthony Loke Siew Fook, Secretary-General of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Minister of Transport of Malaysia. Nga Kor Ming, Vice Chairman of the DAP and Minister of Local Government Development of Malaysia, Tan Kok Wai, DAP Advisor, Chong Chien Jen, DAP National Vice-Chairman, Liew Chin Tong, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Alice Lau Kiong Yieng, Deputy Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat II and Member of the DAP’s Central Executive Committee and others attended the meeting.  

Liu said, under the joint leadership of the leaders of the two countries, China-Malaysia relations have built on the sound momentum in recent years and entered the best period in history. High-level exchanges between the two countries are frequent, and fruitful achievements have been made in economic, trade, and investment cooperation, as well as in people-to-people and cultural exchanges. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, ushering in new opportunities for bilateral relations. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Malaysian side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, consolidate political mutual trust, jointly build the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, deepen the construction of flagship projects such as the “Two Countries, Twin Parks” and the East Coast Rail Link, increase mutual visits between the young people of the two countries, expand academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation, and continue the traditional friendship between the two countries through mutual understanding and friendship, so as to write a new chapter of shared future.  

Liu said, the CPC is willing to deepen strategic communication with the DAP, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning in party building and state governance, and promote "political party +" cooperation, contributing wisdom and strength to further development of bilateral relations.  

Anthony Loke Siew Fook said, since Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim took office, he and President Xi Jinping have jointly cared for and promoted the development of Malaysia-China relations, and bilateral relations have shown new vitality. The Malaysian side hopes to take the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with the Chinese side in various fields and push for greater development of bilateral relations. No matter whether the DAP is the ruling party or not, the DAP firmly supports the one-China principle, actively supports the development of Malaysia-China relations and supports more cooperation between Malaysia and China. Since the implementation of the mutual visa exemption between Malaysia and China, personnel exchanges between both sides have greatly increased, which has brought new impetus to bilateral transport cooperation. The Malaysian side will actively promote the early completion of the East Coast Rail Link, support railway connectivity between the region and China, and make the Belt and Road Initiative bear more fruits in Southeast Asia, so as to better benefit local people.
