Liu Jianchao Meets with Hamzah Zainudin, Secretary-General of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) and the Perikatan Nasional (PN)

Kuala Lumpur, March 29th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Hamzah Zainudin, Secretary-General of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU) and the Perikatan Nasional (PN). Ronald Kiandee, Vice President of BERSATU and former Minister of Agriculture and Food Industries, Datuk Mohd Radzi Md Jidin, Vice President of BERSATU and former Education Minister, Saifuddin Abdullah, former Foreign Minister of Malaysia, and others were present.  


Hailing the long-standing China-Malaysia friendship, Liu said this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia. Over the past 50 years, the two countries have adhered to mutual respect and equal treatment, with political mutual trust continuously consolidated, practical cooperation continuously deepened, and friendly cooperation deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Currently, China is comprehensively promoting Chinese modernization with high-quality development, developing new productive forces, adding new impetus to China's economic development. He believed this would also bring new opportunities for China-Malaysia cooperation. The Chinese side supports the Malaysian side in playing its role as the country coordinator of China-ASEAN relations and the ASEAN Chair next year, and promoting the further development of China-ASEAN relations. Liu called on both sides to strengthen coordination on international and regional issues, to promote world peace, stability and development.  

Liu said, the sustainable development of China-Malaysia relations and bilateral cooperation cannot be separated from the firm support of all walks of life of the two countries, including BERSATU, PN and other political parties. The CPC is willing to work with all parties, including BERSATU and PN, to strengthen high-level exchanges and strategic communication, deepen exchanges and mutual learning of experience in state governance and administration, promote "political party +" cooperation, and enhance friendship between different sectors, especially youth, so as to build a China-Malaysia community with a shared future.  

Hamzah Zainudin said, Malaysia and China are friendly neighboring countries and members of the same big family. It is believed that Malaysia and China will enjoy better development in bilateral relations in the next 50 years, making greater progress in politics, economy, trade, culture, etc. The development of regional countries is closely linked to China. Both China's domestic development and the international problems China faces will have an important impact on countries in this region. The Malaysian side supports the development of ASEAN-China relations, and believes that as long as ASEAN and China remain united, they will become a powerful force in safeguarding peace and development in the region. The Malaysian side is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China on international issues and jointly safeguard international fairness and justice. BERSATU and other Malaysian political parties admire the achievements of the CPC, and are willing to strengthen exchanges and communication with the CPC to provide a clear path for national development, unite the forces of all sectors of Malaysia, and jointly promote national prosperity and development.
