Anwar Ibrahim, President of the People's Justice Party (PKR) and Malaysian Prime Minister, Meets with Liu Jianchao

Kuala Lumpur, March 29th—Anwar Ibrahim, President of the People's Justice Party (PKR) and Malaysian Prime Minister, met here today with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. Ouyang Yujing, Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, Mohamad Hasan, Deputy President of United Malays National Organization (UMNO) and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, and others, were present.  


Anwar Ibrahim welcomed the CPC delegation, saying that the Malaysian political parties have maintained long-term friendly exchanges with the CPC. He spoke highly of China's great achievements under the leadership of President Xi Jinping and the CPC in poverty alleviation, China's economic growth, anti-corruption and other fields, and hoped to learn experience and practices of these areas from the CPC. He said, with a long-standing relationship, Malaysia and China are closely linked in culture and history. The Malaysian side is firmly committed to promoting the construction of the Malaysia-China community with a shared future, pushing exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in such areas as economy, investment, innovation, education, medical care and etc. for new results. The Malaysian side firmly adheres to the one-China principle and stays committed to independently deciding its position on international and regional issues. It will firmly support China’s correct propositions, support the development of ASEAN-China relations, promote regional interconnectivity, properly handle the South China Sea issue, and jointly safeguard regional peace and stability.  


Liu said, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim visited China twice last year, reaching important consensus with President Xi Jinping on jointly building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future and drawing a grand blueprint for the development of China-Malaysia relations in the new era. I am leading a CPC delegation to visit Malaysia to implement the latest consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity to deepen mutual trust and cooperation between the two sides, and promote the relations between the two countries for more results. The Chinese side supports Malaysia in playing a greater role in ASEAN and China-ASEAN relations, appreciates the Malaysian side's objective and fair stance on major international and regional issues, and is willing to work with the Malaysian side to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries. The CPC maintains good relations with all major political parties of Malaysia. Under the new situation, the CPC is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with all political parties, learn from each other on improving governance capabilities, pursue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, give full play to the advantages of "political party +", enhance exchanges between think tanks, non-governmental sectors and youth, facilitate mutual understanding between the two people, and together walk on a development path that suits respective national conditions.
