Bangkok, March 31st—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Han Zhiqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, and Busadee Santipitaks, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, were present.

Both sides recognized that China-Thailand relations have a long history. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have adhered to mutual understanding, equality, and mutual help, becoming a model for relations between large and small countries. In 2022, President Xi Jinping visited Thailand and announced with the Thai leaders to jointly build a China-Thailand community with a shared future, pushing bilateral relations into a new era.

Both sides recognized that next year, China and Thailand will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, providing new opportunities for the further development of relations between the two countries. The two sides should strengthen high-level exchanges and strategic communication, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, and promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation for more results. The China-Thailand railway project is of great significance and its implementation should be accelerated. The mutual visa exemption policy between the two countries has provided significant benefits for promoting personnel exchanges between the two countries. Cooperation in tourism, people-to-people and cultural exchanges and other areas between the two countries should be further promoted. Enterprises from both countries are welcome to strengthen investment cooperation, especially in emerging industries and future-oriented industries, to add impetus to the development of the two countries.

Both sides recognized that the rapid development of China and ASEAN countries is largely attributable to the long-term peace and stability in the region. This situation is hard-won and is the result of the joint efforts of countries in the region. China and ASEAN should adhere to true multilateralism and open regional cooperation, and help countries in the region to resolve issues between them through friendly dialogue and consultation. The Thai side thanks the Chinese side for supporting ASEANs central role in regional cooperation. The Chinese side expresses support for the Thai side in playing its role as Co-chair of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation to promote the common development of countries in the region.

Both sides agreed to give full play to the important role of inter-party exchanges in the relations between the two countries, strengthen the exchanges of experience in state governance and administration, promote exchanges and communication between all walks of life, especially the young people, and advance the in-depth and lasting development of bilateral relations.

The two sides also exchanged views on other international and regional issues of common interest.
