Bangkok, March 31st—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended here today an exchange event with Thai youth. More than 100 outstanding young people from Thailand’s major political parties, media outlets, think tanks, the Chinese community and the business community participated in the event.  

Hailing the long-standing China-Thailand relations, Liu said, the concept that "China and Thailand are as close as one family" is deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. Bilateral relations will embark on a new journey. It is necessary for the young people of China and Thailand to forge ahead and continue to move forward to pass on the China-Thailand friendship.  

Using three key words, "dream", "cognition" and "future", Liu expressed his hope for the young friends. First, the Chinese dream and the Thai dream are closely connected. Young people have dreams, and their dreams motivate them. It is hoped that the young friends will integrate their dreams with the cause of China-Thailand friendly cooperation, and make efforts to write a story about Chinese and Thai young people realizing their dreams side by side. Second, the digital age is full of all kinds of information. Technologies like big data have amplified the information cocoon and brought more prejudices rather than truths. It is hoped that the youth of the two countries will visit each other's country more often, explore and gain an understanding of the real, wonderful and friendly of each country. Third, both China and Thailand have gone through many vicissitudes, but have always remained vibrant and full of vitality, and always forged ahead. Generations of Chinese and Thai youth have contributed their strength to China-Thailand friendly cooperation. It is hoped that the youth of the two countries will continue to work together for a better future for China-Thailand relations.    

Liu said, the CPC has long maintained friendly exchanges with Thailand's ruling and opposition parties, and is committed to promoting mutual understanding and friendship between the youth of the two countries through various forms. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Thai government, political parties, media, think tanks and other sectors to support the youth of the two countries in strengthening educational, cultural and academic exchanges and cooperation, and serving as the inheritors of China-Thailand friendship, partners in pursuing and realizing dreams, and promoters of civilization exchanges, so that the youth of the two countries will contribute to the further development of China-Thailand relations and world peace, stability and prosperity.   

Representatives of Thai youth said, China has made world-renowned achievements in just a few decades, which has not only provided confidence for Thailand to achieve greater development, but also inspired Thai youth to learn more about China and explore China more deeply. Boasting a vast market and rapid development of science and technology, China offers numerous opportunities for young people to grow and develop. The Thai youth are willing to strengthen exchanges with their Chinese counterpart, learn from each other, and look for opportunities for cooperation and improvement. While creating new opportunities for their own development, the youth of both countries will jointly inherit and carry forward the special friendship, and contribute to the further development of Thailand-China relations.
