BEIJING, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) has made remarkable achievements through dynamic high-level exchanges with foreign political parties this year, which contributed to China's foreign relations, said a senior CPC official Thursday.

The exchanges between the CPC and political parties of other socialist countries, neighboring countries and other developing countries have helped promote China's relations with them, said Wang Jiarui, minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

The CPC also had wide exchanges with political parties in developed countries with an open mind and constructive attitude, which has promoted mutual understanding and expanded consensus with them.

The increasingly close contacts between the CPC and international and regional organizations of political parties also helped increase China's influence on the international stage, said Wang in an exclusive interview with Xinhua.

Wang cited the visit of Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and China's president, to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Vietnam not long ago as the culmination of the CPC's high-level exchanges with foreign political parties.

The CPC has received more than 100 high-level delegations headed by leaders of some foreign political parties so far this year, according to Wang.

Through these high-level exchanges, CPC leaders held candid dialogues with foreign political leaders or statesmen, exchanged experience with them in administering state and party affairs, as well as views on major international and regional issues of common concern, he said.

"This has played an irreplaceable important role in promoting the steady development of relations between China and other countries," Wang added.

The CPC has also made progress in helping the government for proper settlement of thorny issues in foreign relations and international affairs through dynamic party-to-party diplomacy this year. "The result in this regard is remarkable," said Wang.

The CPC has played a role in mediating the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula through the channel of party-to-party exchange, said Wang.

"When China-Japan relations are in difficulties, the CPC maintains inter-party exchanges with political parties in Japan and urges the Japanese leaders to treat the history issue properly."

A CPC delegation visited the Middle East to promote peace talks between Palestine and Israel, Wang said.

The CPC has also consulted with political parties of foreign countries on the establishment of a just and rational new international political and economic order and the promotion of the United Nations reform in a just and rational manner.

With the inter-party exchanges covering a wider range, the CPC paid high attention to the mode of economic and social development, corporate management and science and technology while promoting its relations with foreign political parties.

These activities helped exchange information about trade and economic cooperation, and bring about the signing of agreements on some projects, said Wang.

The CPC has also made efforts to facilitate cultural exchange and cooperation between China and other countries to promote understanding and friendship between the peoples.

"The CPC is ready to do anything that is beneficial to the development of nation-to-nation relations and will do it well with the utmost effort," he said.

The dynamic exchanges between the CPC and foreign political parties this year have helped foreigners better understand China and the CPC.

With China's rapid development and increasing involvement in international affairs, the international community has paid growing attention to China and the CPC, said Wang Jiarui.

It is an urgent job to help people of the international community know better about China and the CPC, dispel biases and clear up misunderstanding by enhancing inter-party exchanges, Wang said.

"We will further increase the transparency of the CPC's diplomatic activities and open up a window for people in the rest of the world to better understand China and the CPC through the party's external exchanges," Wang said.

This year, he said, the CPC will "conduct further exchanges with foreign political organizations, make friends with them and deepen cooperation with them," so as to make greater contribution to the development of the country.
