the Fourth Plenary Session of the 17th CPC Central Committee
 ( 2009.09.22 )

BEIJING, Sept. 22 – The International Department of the CPC Central Committee held briefing sessions today for foreign diplomats and media in China respectively.

Two experts from the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC shed light on, from different perspectives, major principles and outcome of the plenary session, and took questions on new measures adopted by the CPC to tackle corruption and enhance intra-party democracy.

Participants actively raised questions to interact with the experts.

Sudanese Ambassador to China Mirghani Mohamed Salih said, since the policy of reform and opening-up was launched three decades ago, the CPC has dedicated itself to constantly updating its grasp on the political, social, and economic development in China, as a result, various domestic challenges have been properly addressed.

He added that, it is necessary for us to learn how China fights against corruption through legislation, administration, and accountability systems.

My five years' working experience here has helped me understand relations between the CPC and the government and I'm happy to be part of such an open and democratic discussion, remarked Anmar A. Al Nimer Al-Hmoud, Jordan's ambassador to China, I thank the CPC for sharing information on party-building, which shows the CPC is open and democratic.

Foreign diplomats and journalists reacted positively to the briefings given by experts from key departments shortly after the 4th plenary session, since they facilitate the international community to timely, accurately, and comprehensively understand CPC's messages and testify to the openness of the CPC. They look forward to more of such briefings around significant CPC conferences and the launch of major policies.

The briefing sessions were attended by more than 150 diplomats from more than 100 countries and some four dozen journalists from nearly 30 foreign media organizations.
