The International Department of the CPC Central Committee Holds Briefing
on the Political Party System in China for Foreign Diplomats
 ( 2010.02.04 )

BEIJING, Feb. 4--Listen attentively, raise questions actively and provide answers sincerely.

This afternoon, nearly 60 ambassadors, emissaries and other diplomats accredited to China from 23 countries and from the Mission of the League Arab States in Beijing attended the background briefing held here in the capital city by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee. The Briefing has helped the diplomats to obtain a deeper understanding about the political party system in China and the way of governance of the CPC.

This is yet another briefing for emissaries and diplomats hosted by the International Department after the one on "4th Plenary Session of the 17th CPC Central Committee". During today's briefing, Deputy Director Fang Li of the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee made introduction on the system of multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC and the way of governance of the CPC. During the Q&A session, the diplomats were active to raise their questions like:

What is the percentage of young members in the CPC? How do the democratic parties in China recruit new members? What is the relation between the CPC and the democratic parties?

Apart from the introductions made on the briefing, many other questions related to the governance of the CPC were also of interest to the diplomats. One diplomat from Yemen raised the particular question on the measures of property declaration by leading cadres proposed at 4th Plenary Session of the 17th Central Committee, and this diplomat asked if specific plans or steps in this regard have been tabled now. The ambassador of Tunisia asked about the working strategy and concrete methods of the CPC when it leads China to continue economic and social development in the wake of the international financial crisis.

The two-hour briefing seemed short for the diplomats who had appetite for more information. Vice-Minister Li Jinjun of the International Department actively responded to the enthusiasm of the audience and voluntarily made introduction on the principles, tasks and achievements of the external exchanges of the CPC especially the relations with political parties and organizations in Western Asia and North Africa.

The diplomats were very satisfied about the briefing, and were thankful and delighted for the invitation and holding of such an event by the International Department. A diplomat from Lebanon believed that all participants have benefited profoundly from the briefing and that through this activity, they have gained further knowledge about the political party system in China and about the CPC. The diplomats all hoped that such kind of briefing will be held regularly.
