 ( 2011.04.01 )

Beijing, April 1 --- Forty-odd representatives of Chinese netizens from websites of Xinhua.net, People.com.cn and China Net were invited to take a tour "Into IDCPC". This is the first time for IDCPC to have an "Open Day" exclusively for Chinese netizens.

These netizens are from all walks of life and all parts of China. Among them are scientists, teachers, private enterprise employees and grassroot Party members. Many of them have even come afar from Chongqing, Shandong, Inner Mongolia etc, in a hope to have a closer look into CPC's "Foreign Ministry" and understand the new progress of the Party's external work in the new era.

To enable more general public to understand the functions of IDCPC as well as to understand and support the Party's external work, IDCPC is more open in recent years, trying its utmost to "unveil itself" through various ways. In 2007, IDCPC hosted its first "Open Day" to the public.

"The International Department of the CPC Central Committee, founded in 1951, is the functional body of the CPC Central Committee responsible for its external work. IDCPC's main obligations are: to implement CPC Central Committee's principles and policies guiding external work; to follow closely and study the development and changes of the international situation and major international issues; and to provide relevant information and suggestions." Sun Haiyan, Deputy Director-General of the Research Office, first briefed the representatives about the netizens about IDCPC.

After watching a video outlining the ninety years' of the Party's external work, the netizen sat down with the officials of IDCPC. Shen Peili, Director-General of Bureau I, vividly illustrated the difficulties encountered in the job and the progress scored; Li Lianfu, former Ambassador to Cuba, used the story of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Costa Rica to demonstrate IDCPC's vital role in it.

"IDCPC also boasts a young and dynamic work force after office hours. We have various groups such as football, basketball and ping-pong teams etc. Our football team had once had a friendly match with party delegation team of the ROK, and such "football diplomacy" did draw us closer to each other," said Yu Hailin, laureate of the second "Outstanding Young Diplomats of China" award.

After visiting the Exhibition of IDCPC History, the representatives have a field experience of a foreign meeting between Vice-Minister Li Jinjun and German Multi-Party MP Delegation. Li Jinjun and Harald Leibrecht, German MP (Free Democratic Party), interacted with the netizens. The meeting was lively with laughter and applause.

"Our Party now has established contacts and exchanges with over 600 political parties and organizations from 160-odd countries and regions in an all-dimensional, multi-channel, wide-ranging and deep-going manner." Li Jinjun said to the representatives.

According to Li Jinjun, the Party's external work is to build on past achievements, and innovate and explore to serve as a major platform for Party members, leaders and cadres to observe the world as well as an important channel to draw on successful foreign experience for central decision-making. IDCPC hopes to have everyone's care and support.

Toward the end of the tour, the visitors felt that through the visit and the meeting, they have a more comprehensive understanding of the Party's external work and its glorious mission. IDCPC shoulders heavy responsibility. They will certainly follow closely and support fully IDCPC's work in the future.

"Little was known about IDCPC in the past. But this Open Day does enable us to closely look at and interact with this department, which is very meaningful. I hope that more similar activities will take place in the future allowing for more people to participate in," said Ms Xiao, a netizen from Xinhua.net.
