Beijing, October 22nd—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Ursula von der Leyen, Vice Chairman of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) and Defense Minister of Germany.
Song said that the current China-Germany relations have maintained a sound development momentum, with frequent high-level exchanges and constant improvements in the all-round strategic partnership between the two countries. The CPC attaches importance to the development of relations with the CDU and is willing to, on the basis of seeking common grounds while reserving differences, mutual respect and mutual learning, jointly promote the construction of a new type of inter-party relations and give full play to the role of the political guiding role of political party exchanges in the development of the relations between countries, and make greater contributions to the development of respective countries and the friendly cooperation between China and Germany.
Speaking positively of Germany-China relations and the relations between the two Parties, Ursula von der Leyen noted that the CDU is willing to continue to strengthen friendly exchanges and cooperation with the CPC, continuously cement political mutual trust between the two sides and jointly promote Germany-China relations to continue maintaining the high-level development.
Song also introduced the Belt and Road Initiative. And the two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern.
Qian Hongshan, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Ci Guowei, Director of the Office for International Military Cooperation of the Central Military Commission of China, attended the meeting.
