Beijing, December 13th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today at request with the delegation of American Foreign Policy Council (AFPC) which was headed by Timothy Keating, former Commander of the United States Pacific Command.
Song appreciated the regular exchanges between the AFPC and the IDCPC, which makes positive contributions to promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and the US. Song said that looking back at the history of China-US exchanges, only by insisting on mutual respect and win-win cooperation can we bring tangible benefits to the two peoples. Not long ago, President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump reached important consensus on developing China-US relations. China is willing to work together with the US to strengthen dialogue and cooperation and promote the forward-looking development of China-US relations based on coordination, cooperation and stability in accordance with the principles and directions set by the two heads of state.
Keating said that the AFPC has always been committed to strengthening exchanges between the US and China. The AFPC is willing to continue to resolve the existing problems through in-depth dialogues between the two sides in various fields, and jointly build sound US-China relations that serve the interests of the two countries and the two peoples.
Guo Yezhou, IDCPC Vice-minister, attended the meeting.
