Song Tao Meets with Co-Chairman of the CPN

Kathmandu, September 24th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Prachanda, Co-Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN).

Song expressed that Comrade Prachanda is an old and good friend of the Chinese people. We speak highly of your important contributions to the relations between the two Parties and two countries over a long period of time. At present, as both countries have entered a new development period, the relations between the two Parties and the two countries face new historic opportunity. Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, the CPC is striving to lead the Chinese people to realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The CPN is also exploring a development path which combines the basic principle of Marxism and its own national conditions. It is hoped that the communist parties of the two countries will strengthen high-level exchanges and exchanges at various levels, expand exchanges in party building and innovation in theory, promote cooperation between the two countries for more achievements including the building of the Trans-Himalayan Multi-Dimensional Connectivity Network, facilitate economic and social development of both countries, and consolidate the political foundation for the long-term and stable development of bilateral relations.

Prachanda warmly congratulated the People’s Republic of China on the 70th anniversary of its founding, and expressed that the CPN has long been committed to developing socialism in Nepal and strengthening Nepal-China friendship. It is Nepal’s original commission that has never changed. Under the leadership of the CPC with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, remarkable achievements have been made in socialism with Chinese characters in the new era. It is a huge inspiration for the CPN and is the new impetus for Nepal-China relations. The CPN is willing to deepen institutional exchanges with the CPC, especially learn the party building and innovation in theory from the CPC, and strengthen the building of the CPN, so as to promote the relations between the two Parties and two countries for greater development.

After the talks, the CPC and the CPN jointly signed a memorandum of understanding on exchanges and cooperation between the CPC and the CPN. CPN leaders including Khadga Prasad Oli, Co-chairman of the CPN and Prime Minister of Nepal and Prachanda attended the signing ceremony.
