Beijing, March 30th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Wee Ka Siong, President of the Malaysian Chinese Association.
Liu stated that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Malaysia, and next year the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Under the joint leadership of the leaders of both countries, China-Malaysia relations are moving forward in the direction of building a community with a shared future. The Malaysian Chinese Association is one of the first political parties in Southeast Asian countries to establish inter-party relations with the CPC. The CPC is willing to deepen mutual learning on state governance and administration with the Malaysian Chinese Association, promote pragmatic cooperation in the "political party +" framework, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges between young people, deepen multilateral collaboration between political parties, and promote China-Malaysia relations for constant development.
Liu said that General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered a keynote speech at the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting, profoundly answering the "question of modernization", proposing the Global Civilization Initiative, and promoting better inclusiveness, coexistence, communication and mutual learning among different civilizations. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Malaysian side to jointly promote the implementation of the Global Civilization Initiative and contribute to the modernization of Asia and the development and progress of human civilization through the modernization of our two countries.
Wee Ka Siong expressed his pleasure to accompany Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on this highly important visit to China. Over the nearly 30 years of inter-party relations between the Malaysian Chinese Association and the CPC, the Malaysian Chinese Association has witnessed China's development progress and the rapid development of Malaysia-China relations. The Malaysian Chinese Association supports the Malaysian government's adherence to the One China principle and supports both countries' efforts in promoting friendly exchanges and cooperation between political parties, governments, and people. Over the past 10 years since the proposal of the Belt and Road Initiative, it has brought tangible benefits to Malaysia and other ASEAN countries. The Malaysian Chinese Association is willing to continue to give play to its strength as a political party, promote pragmatic cooperation between Malaysia and China in the Belt and Road cooperation, strengthen interconnectivity in railways, ports, and other infrastructure, deepen educational and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and make new contributions to the development of relations between ASEAN and China.
