Liu Jianchao Visits Kyushu University and Interacts with Faculty Members and Students

Fukuoka, May 31st—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, visited Kyushu University in Japan and interacted with its faculty members and students. The event was attended by Tatsuro Ishibashi, President of Kyushu University, and others.  


Liu said, Kyushu University is a prestigious comprehensive university in Japan with a history spanning over a century. It plays a crucial role in nurturing talents for Japan and is one of the first higher education institutions in Japan to accept Chinese students. The university has played a positive role in enhancing China-Japan personnel exchanges and educational cooperation. He expressed the hope that Kyushu University would leverage its unique strengths, expand cooperation with universities of China, and contribute to the development of education between the two countries and the continuation of China-Japan friendship.  

Tatsuro Ishibashi warmly welcomed Liu and the delegation to Kyushu University, noting that the university hosts over 1,400 Chinese students and serves as a vital link in people-to-people and cultural exchanges between Japan and China. Kyushu University is ready to strengthen academic exchanges with the Chinese side and promote educational cooperation between both countries.  

During his interactions with young students and representatives of Chinese students at Kyushu University, Liu said, the youth are the future of both countries and the future of bilateral relations. As youth are the future leaders of the world, it is hoped that the youth from both countries will be prepared to shoulder future responsibilities from now on, fear no challenges, strive hard, and actively act as bridges, become ambassadors of friendship between China and Japan, and contribute to a better China-Japan relations in the future. Liu also responded to students’ questions regarding Japanese public opinions on China, expressing his views.  

Liu also visited the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research and the Central Library at Kyushu University.
