CPC Delegation Holds Exchanges and Discussions with Representatives of Media Outlets, Think Tanks, and Universities of Uruguay

Montevideo, August 5th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and the CPC delegation held exchanges and discussions here today with representatives from media outlets such as Grupo R Multimedio, Búsqueda, Caras y Caretas, Radio Fénix, and TV Ciudad - Montevideo, representatives from think tanks including Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences and Paysandú Research Center, as well as teachers and students from Catholic University of Uruguay and University of the Republic.  


Liu expounded on the position and views on China-Uruguay relations and Chinas relations with Latin American and Caribbean countries, emphasizing that President Xi Jinping and President Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou's joint announcement of the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership opened a new chapter in bilateral relations. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Uruguayan side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, continuously deepen political mutual trust, firmly support each other on issues involving respective core interests, strengthen inter-party exchanges, expand cooperation in economy, trade the Belt and Road cooperation, etc., enhance people-to-people cultural exchanges, and promote China-Uruguay relations for greater development. China and Latin American and Caribbean countries are all developing countries. Cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean countries is based on the principle of mutual benefit and win-win results, with common development as the goal, and is in line with the common interests of regional countries. The Chinese side is ready to work with Latin American and Caribbean countries to promote relations between both sides for better development in the new era. 


Liu Jianchao, Chen Dawei, head of a department of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, Wang Shaofeng, Secretary of the CPC Fengtai District Committee in Beijing, Huang Qingjie, deputy head of a department of the Office of the Central Financial and Economic Affairs Commission, and Zhong Shujia, deputy head of a department of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, answered questions regarding the spirit of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, China's economic development prospects, Beijing's urban governance, China-Uruguay people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation, the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind and three major global initiatives, etc., and had exchanges with theUruguayan side.
