Liu Jianchao Meets with Leaders of Chile's Ruling Coalition

Santiago, August 7th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with leaders of Chile's ruling coalition. Leaders of political parties in the ruling coalition, including Frente Amplio, the Communist Party of Chile, the Socialist Party of Chile, Party for Democracy, Humanist Action Party, and Social Green Regionalist Federation and leaders of Christian Democrat Party were present. 


Liu said, exchanges between political parties of China and Chile are an important part of the relations between the two countries, helping the two sides promote communication of ideas, deepen mutual understanding and enhance political mutual trust. Liu introduced China's modern and contemporary history and the development of the CPC. He expressed that the CPC is willing to strengthen exchanges with the parties of the ruling coalition of Chile, deepen exchanges and mutual learning of experience in state governance and administration, jointly explore development paths that suit respective national conditions, and promote China-Chile comprehensive strategic partnership for new achievements. Liu also introduced the main situation of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. 

Leaders of various political parties spoke highly of China's great achievements in economic and social development. They stressed that China is an important development partner of Chile, and Chile and China should strengthen all-round cooperation. They expressed the hope to enhance exchanges, dialogues and mutual learning with the CPC, to promote greater development of Chile-China relations. 

The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues such as the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
