Valparaiso, August 8th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Karol Cariola Oliva, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile.

Liu congratulated Cariola on her recent successful visit to China, saying that although China and Chile are separated by vast oceans, both sides have close exchanges and have become good friends and partners. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Gabriel Boric, China-Chile relations have enjoyed in-depth and continuous development, with fruitful cooperation results in various fields. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Chilean side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen the docking of development strategies, further improve trade levels, actively explore cooperation in emerging industries, clean energy, technological innovation and other fields, intensify cultural and educational exchanges, and jointly create a better future for China-Chile relations. China and Chile, the two Global South countries and developing countries, have similar positions on many global and regional issues. The Chinese side is ready to strengthen international coordination with the Chilean side and promote the establishment of a more just and reasonable international order. The CPC stands ready to continue to maintain friendly exchanges with political parties in the Chilean Chamber of Deputies, strengthen political dialogue, and promote the development of China-Chile comprehensive strategic partnership through inter-party exchanges. Liu also introduced the spirit of the third plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee.

Cariola said, last year I had the honor to accompany President Gabriel Boric on his visit to China. This visit was a great success, with Chile and China signing a series of cooperation agreements. Not long ago, I led a delegation from the Chamber of Deputies to visit China to promote greater exchanges and cooperation between the legislatures of the two countries. I have visited China six times and witnessed China’s great achievements in poverty alleviation and Chinese modernization. Chile and China are comprehensive strategic partners and have set many records in the development of Latin America-China relations. All successive Chilean administrations have firmly adhered to the one-China principle. All political parties in Chile are committed to Chile-China friendship and hope to strengthen exchanges with the CPC, learn from China's development experience, and promote cooperation between the two countries in economy and trade, smart city construction, port construction, etc. More Chinese companies are welcome to invest and develop business in Chile. Both Chile and China support free trade and multilateralism, and both advocate compliance with international law. The Chilean side supports and actively participates in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and is willing to strengthen multilateral coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side to promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Eric Aedo, Second Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile, and others were present.
