Beijing, September 4th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today upon request with Salva Kiir Mayardit, Chairman of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) of South Sudan and President of South Sudan.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit said, I am glad to visit the International Department of the CPC Central Committee during the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). I attach great importance to the relations between the two Parties and thank the CPC for its long-term support and help to the SPLM. The SPLM is willing to keep close exchanges with the CPC at all levels, enhance mutual understanding, strengthen cooperation in party building, cadre training, poverty alleviation, education and other fields, and push for further development of relations between the two Parties and two countries. South Sudan thanks China for its strong support to South Sudan at the UN Security Council. South Sudan will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China principle and firmly support China's positions on issues concerning China's core interests. The government of South Sudan welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and start businesses in South Sudan and boost South Sudan's development and revitalization.
Liu said, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Salva Kiir Mayardit, China-South Sudan relations have enjoyed healthy and stable development, with steady progress in practical cooperation in various fields and increasingly close friendly exchanges at all levels. China and South Sudan have firmly supported each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, and firmly upheld the common interests of the Global South countries, setting a good example of relations between developing countries. It is believed that the FOCAC summit will bring new opportunities for the upgrading of China-South Sudan and China-Africa cooperation and provide new impetus for the development and revitalization of South Sudan and Africa.
Liu said, inter-party relations play a key role in China-South Sudan relations. The CPC is willing to work with the SPLM to take the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries as guidance, strengthen mutual exchanges, enhance strategic communication and exchange of ideas, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen mutual learning of experience in state governance and administration, strengthen exchanges between the youth, women and non-governmental organizations of the two Parties, consolidate public support for friendship between the two countries and push for continuous development of bilateral relations.
Li Mingxiang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Kuol Manyang Juuk, Deputy Chairman of the SPLM and Senior Presidential Advisor, Lam Both, SPLM Secretary-General, and others attended the meeting.
