Berlin, September 24th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Wolfgang Schmidt, Head of Germany's Federal Chancellery.
Liu said, President Xi Jinping and Chancellor Olaf Scholz maintain close exchanges, providing strategic guidance for the development of China-Germany relations. The Chinese side is willing to work with the German side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote cooperation in various fields. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the CPC and the Social Democratic Party (SPD) of Germany. Yesterday, the two Parties established a strategic dialogue mechanism and successfully held the first strategic dialogue. The two Parties exchanged views in an in-depth manner on issues of common concern, enhanced mutual understanding, reached a series of consensus, and opened a new chapter in the relationship between the two Parties. The CPC is willing to, together with the SPD, continue the strategic dialogue between the two Parties, so as to promote the steady and long-term development of China-Germany and China-European Union relations.
Schmidt said, amid the current turbulent and complex international situation, Germany-China cooperation is very important to both countries and the world. During Chancellor Olaf Scholz's visit to China, he had in-depth exchanges with President Xi Jinping on Germany-China relations and international and regional hotspot issues, and reached important consensus. The German side is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side, promote government and non-governmental dialogue, and push bilateral relations for greater development. China, a founding member of the United Nations (UN) and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, has an important influence on global affairs. The German side is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side on international and regional affairs and jointly respond to global challenges. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of relations between the two Parties, the SPD held the first strategic dialogue with the CPC, which once again proved the good relationship between the two Parties. The SDP is willing to strengthen exchanges with the CPC.
The two sides also had in-depth exchanges of views on issues such as the Ukrainian crisis.
