Beijing, June 26th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Ilyas Moussa Dawaleh, Secretary General of the People's Rally for Progress (RPP) of Djibouti, and Minister of Economy, Finance and Industry.
Liu noted that China and Djibouti are good friends, good partners and good brothers. During the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) last year, President Xi Jinping and President Ismail Omar Guelleh upgraded China-Djibouti relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, opening up a new situation for cooperation between the two countries in various fields. China is willing to work with Djibouti to follow the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, continue to firmly support each other in safeguarding sovereignty, security and development interests, strengthen cooperation in various fields under the framework of the FOCAC, work faster to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit, and continuously enrich the connotation of China-Djibouti comprehensive strategic partnership to better benefit the people of the two countries. At present, the international and regional situations are undergoing both transformation and upheaval. China is willing to work with the Global South countries including Djibouti to strengthen strategic communication and coordination, jointly implement the three major global initiatives, and inject more stability into the region and the world.
Liu noted that the profound friendship and mutual trust between the CPC and the RPP laid a solid political foundation for the development of China-Djibouti relations. The CPC is willing to further develop friendly relations with the RPP, carry out in-depth political dialogue, promote exchanges and mutual learning in party building and cadre training, advance practical cooperation in various fields through the "political party +" channel, and better help each other build the Party and the country. Liu also introduced the CPC's education campaign to implement the central Party leadership's eight-point decision on improving work conduct.
Dawaleh said, Djibouti highly values its long-term friendly relations with China, thanks China for the valuable help with Djibouti's economic development and improvement of people's livelihood, and is ready to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and continuously deepen bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership. The RPP is willing to maintain close exchanges with the CPC at all levels, and learn China’s experience in strengthening the cultivation of the cadre team, maintaining close ties with the people and promoting digital construction in an in-depth manner, to make the RPP stronger. The current situation in the Red Sea is facing unstable factors, and unilateralism and protectionism are rampant around the world. As a small country, Djibouti is deeply impacted. Djibouti appreciates China's important role in international and regional affairs and its equal and mutually beneficial cooperation with Africa. It is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China to jointly defend multilateralism and maintain regional and world peace and stability.
Li Mingxiang, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, and others were present.
