Beijing, July 11th—The sub-forum themed on "Inter-Civilization Exchanges and Mutual Learning: Building an Inclusive World" during the Global Civilizations Dialogue Ministerial Meeting was held there today. Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), attended the event and delivered a keynote speech. Yves Leterme, former Prime Minister of Belgium, Essam Sharaf, former Prime Minister of Egypt, Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka, and representatives from various political parties, think tanks, media outlets and relevant Chinese departments attended the event.
Liu took the localization of Buddhism in China, the adaptation of Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of our times, and contemporary technological innovations as examples to tell the stories of ancient world civilizations and China, modern Western civilizations and China, and future civilizations and China. Liu said, Chinese civilization has always maintained an open and inclusive attitude in dialogue, exchanges and integration with other civilizations, always focused on absorbing all the excellent achievements of civilizations around the world, always achieved inheritance and development through absorbing excellent achievements, and always based itself on the present and looked to the future, contributing to the prosperity and progress of the world's garden of civilizations.
Liu Jianchao said, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations are an important driving force for the progress of human civilization and the peaceful development of the world. As an ancient Chinese saying goes, "It is the combination of different ingredients that makes the soup delicious". As one of the largest ruling parties in the world, the CPC is willing to work with the international community to jointly implement the Global Civilization Initiative and the consensus reached at this meeting. The IDCPC is willing to actively promote the in-depth and substantial development of the achievements of exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations through the channel of inter-party exchanges, further enrich the content and forms of global exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, uphold the beauty of each civilization and the diversity of civilizations in the world, and join hands to create a bright future for human civilization.
In his keynote speech, Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs of Sri Lanka said, the exchange of Buddhist scriptures, Zheng He's voyage stele, and the Digital Silk Road, among other examples of cultural exchanges between Sri Lanka and China throughout history, fully demonstrate the charm of the integration of civilizations. Sri Lanka fully agreed with the principles proposed by President Xi Jinping in the Global Civilization Initiative, including mutual respect, mutual inclusiveness, common prosperity, and global cooperation among civilizations. He suggested that all countries expand academic exchanges and policy coordination, strengthen dialogue and cooperation in various fields, and contribute to maintaining world peace.
After the keynote speeches, the participants conducted group discussions and exchanges on two topics: "promoting an equal and orderly multi-polar world through dialogue among civilizations" and "advancing an inclusive and mutually beneficial economic globalization through mutual learning among civilizations".
The first stage of the group discussion was chaired by George Katrougalos, former Foreign Minister of Greece and the Independent Expert on the promotion of a democratic and equitable international order of the United Nations. Yu Yunquan, Deputy Director of the China Foreign Languages Publishing Administration, Damjan Jovic, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Yertysbayev Yermukhamet, the Chairman of the People’s Party of Kazakhstan, José Luis Centella, President of the Communist Party of Spain, Abdelkrim Benmbarek, General Secretary of the Algerian National Liberation Front, Giorgi Gabunia, Chairman of the Culture Committee of the Georgian Parliament, Muhammad Al-Mikhlafi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Yemeni Socialist Party, Georgii Kamnev, Member of the Presidium and Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Mohammad Alloush, Secretary General of the Political Bureau of Palestinian Popular Struggle Front, Ammar Al-Bayati, Deputy Secretary-General of the Iraqi Communist Party, and others participated in the discussion and made speeches. Chinese and foreign participants said, the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping provides a practical platform and guidance for countries to conduct exchanges and dialogues among civilizations. The diversity of civilizations is the internal driving force for the world to move towards multi-polarization and diversification. All countries should resolve conflicts and differences through dialogue and consultation, jointly address global challenges such as regional conflicts and climate change, oppose hegemonism and power politics, and promote the building of an equal and orderly multi-polar world.

Participants included Thabang Polycarp Lekhela, principal secretary of Lesotho's Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Andrés Peláez, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay; Erdem Ilker Mutlu, chief advisor to the chairman of Turkiye's Patriotic Party; Rajko Ostojic, Vice President of the Social Democratic Party of Croatia;
Abdulsalam Abu Ghalyah, Head of the Legal Office of the Libyan Democratic Party; Michal Bartek, Member of Parliament for Voice–Social Democracy (Hlas–SD) of Slovakia, Vice Chairman of the Defence and Security Committee in Parliament, and Vice-Chairman of Trenčín self-governing Region; Mariem Ayed, Member of The National Council of The AfekTounes Party; Olivera Injac, Vice President of the the "Europe Now!" movement of Montenegro; and Mohamed El Kebir, Member of The Standing Committee of Executive Bureau, Head of Media Affairs, Chairman of The National Youth Committee of Mauritanian Union of The Forces of Progress. All participants highly praised the vision of civilization advocated by President Xi Jinping, which emphasizes equality, mutual learning, dialogue and inclusiveness. They believed that the Global Civilization Initiative provides a new and powerful impetus for resolving the predicament of human civilization development and promoting unity and cooperation among countries. All countries should strive to seize development as the greatest common denominator, promote cooperation in areas such as international trade, scientific and technological innovation, and sub-national exchanges, oppose protectionism and unilateralism, and push for an economic globalization that is more open, inclusive, balanced and beneficial to all.
The Chinese and foreign guests who participated in the group discussions answered the questions raised by the participants on the spot.
