On May 6th, Li Mingxiang, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), attended an opening ceremony of the online training workshop of the Prosperity Party of Ethiopia, and delivered a speech through video link. On behalf of Minister Song Tao and the IDCPC, Li congratulated on the opening of the workshop and thanked Egypt for its support in China’s fight against the epidemic. Briefing on China’s practice in fighting the virus and China’s international epidemic containment cooperation in line with the concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind, Li expressed China’s readiness to work with Ethiopia to enhance cooperation in fighting the disease, jointly oppose politicizing the epidemic, labeling the virus and stigmatizing China, and take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Ethiopia diplomatic relations in a bid to enrich the China-Ethiopia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

Awolu Abdi, head of the Public Relations and International Relations of Prosperity Party, addressed the workshop via video link. He said that the workshop was an important initiative for exchanges and cooperation between the two Parties, and it would further promote the development of the relations between the two Parties and the two countries. Appreciating China’s remarkable achievements in COVID-19 response, Awolu said that the pandemic is a common enemy facing all humankind and the international society must unite to defeat it. The politicization of the epidemic outbreak will only exacerbate the pandemic.

Both sides exchanged views online on the containment of the epidemic and the important role played by political parties in this process and had active interactions after speeches. Benefiting a lot from the workshop, the Ethiopian side expected to have an in-depth understanding of China's experience and practices in combating the epidemic, coordinating the epidemic control and economic and social development, and combating poverty in the coming days.
