On July 9th, the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee and the Provincial Government of Mandalay, Myanmar jointly held the “China-Myanmar Political Parties Plus: Tele Communication between Yunnan and Mandalay”. The meeting exchanged in-depth views on strengthening the political guidance of the ruling party, consolidating the connectivity and friendship and cooperation between China and Myanmar, especially Yunnan and Mandalay provinces, expanding cooperation in new fields such as digital economy and e-commerce poverty alleviation and accelerating the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and the economic corridor construction, reaching broad consensus. The meeting adopted the Minute of “China-Myanmar Political Parties Plus: Tele Communication between Yunnan and Mandalay”.
The minute stressed that the CPC and the National League for Democracy of Myanmar are willing to actively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two Parties and two countries, continue to deepen the mutual learning of governance and administration of state affairs, so as to lead each other’s economy and society for better and faster development and effectively promote the well-being of the two peoples.
The minute pointed out that the CPC and the National League for Democracy of Myanmar support strengthening friendly exchanges at all levels between the two countries and support Yunnan and Mandalay provinces in deepening exchanges and cooperation among parliaments, youth, women, media, think tanks and border people, jointly organizing activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar, and carrying forward Myanmar-China paukphaw friendship. The CPC and the National League for Democracy of Myanmar support strengthening exchanges of ideas and practical cooperation in emerging fields such as digital economy and helping agriculture through e-commerce between the two countries, accelerating implementation of relevant cooperation memorandums between Yunnan and Mandalay provinces and further promoting cooperation in connectivity, cross-border e-commerce, rural poverty reduction, education, health, tourism, trade and other fields to help respective economic and social recovery and development.
According to the minute, all parties at the meeting speak positively of the exchange and cooperation model of “China-Myanmar Political Parties Plus”, and are willing to further enrich the contents of exchanges, learn from each other’s experience in governing and administrating state affairs, strengthen exchange and cooperation, promote the construction of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future for deeper and more practical development, and benefit the two peoples within the framework of “China-Myanmar Political Parties Plus”.
Myanmar media paid high attention to and spoke positively of the meeting, believing that it is of practical significance for the meeting to facilitate practical cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor through exchanges of ideas, to achieve economic restart, and to improve people’s livelihood of the two countries through cooperation in emerging fields. Than Myint, Union Minister for Commerce of Myanmar said in an interview after the meeting that the meeting is fruitful and that strengthening exchanges and coordination between governments and political parties of China and Myanmar, and deepening bilateral practical cooperation in various fields will better help China and Myanmar recover economy after the COVID-19 pandemic and benefit the two peoples.
