Beijing, December 10th—Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and Co-Chairman of the Council of the Silk Road Think Tank Association (SRTA), attended and addressed here today the opening ceremony of the 6th Forum of China-ASEAN University (Country and Regional Studies) Think-Tank Network via video link.
Chen mainly introduced the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress. He said, the CPC will unswervingly safeguard world peace, promote common development, adhere to high-level opening up, and strive to provide new opportunities for the world through its new development. The Chinese side will follow the direction given by General Secretary Xi Jinping, strengthen development strategy integration with ASEAN partners, promote the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and work together for inter-connectivity and mutual benefit and win-win results of a higher level. The Chinese side is willing to work with ASEAN countries to build a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future, keep to the right direction of economic globalization, stay committed to true multilateralism and open regionalism, build a stronger regional architecture which upholds ASEAN’s centrality, jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries, and make new and greater contributions to world peace and development.
Co-organized by SRTA and Guangxi University, the forum was themed on “taking the RCEP as an opportunity to deepen the construction of China-ASEAN community with a shared future”. Guests from home and abroad, including Huang Junhua, Vice Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Wang Naixue, Vice Chairman of the Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Secretary of the CPC Guangxi University Committee, Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network, attended the forum, having in-depth discussions on such topics as China-ASEAN cooperation against the background of Indo-Pacific Strategy, new development pattern and the construction of China-ASEAN community with a shared future, and RCEP and China-ASEAN digital economic cooperation.
