Beijing, October 18th—Li Mingxiang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a delegation led by Watson Lumba, Treasurer General of Zambia's United Party for National Development (UPND).
Li extended a welcome to Lumba and his delegation for their visit to China. He spoke highly of the relations between the CPC and the UPND and the two countries. Li also introduced the significant achievements of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and China's policy and positions on the development of China-Africa relations. He noted that next year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Zambia. Guided by the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and President Hakainde Hichilema, the Chinese side is willing to work together with the Zambian side to continue expanding and deepening cooperation in various fields, to promote the long-term and stable development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Zambia. The CPC is willing to enhance friendly exchanges and cooperation with the UPND to promote the development of both Parties and the prosperity of the two countries.
Lumba reiterated Zambia's firm commitment to the One-China principle, expressed gratitude for China's selfless assistance in Zambia's national development over the years, and expressed the Zambian side's appreciation for President Xi Jinping's principles of sincerity, real results, amity, and good faith. The Zambian side is willing to deepen cooperation in various fields with the Chinese side under the frameworks of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, to push bilateral relations for constant development. The UPND hopes to learn from the experiences of the CPC in state governance and administration, so as to enhance its governance capabilities and better benefit the people.
