Lu Kang Meets with Laurent Wehrli, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland

Beijing, May 24thLu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Laurent Wehrli, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of the Federal Assembly of Switzerland.  


Lu said, in recent years, China and Switzerland have continuously deepened friendship and cooperation, achieving fruitful results. Switzerland has pioneered many “firsts” in developing its relations with China. Next year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Both sides should inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of China-Switzerland cooperation, enhance communication and exchanges, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, facilitate personnel exchanges, strengthen international coordination, and promote the continuous advancement of bilateral relations. Both China and Switzerland are important forces in maintaining world peace and stability, and as members of the United Nations Security Council, both sides should strengthen international coordination under new circumstances and jointly advocate an equal and orderly multi-polar world and economic globalization that is inclusive and beneficial to all.  

Wehrli expressed that the friendship between Switzerland and China has withstood the test of changing international circumstances and has maintained stable development over the long term. The Swiss side is willing to work with the Chinese side to further strengthen communication and cooperation at all levels and in various fields, explore the potential for cooperation in areas such as climate protection and green development, and enhance cooperation between the two countries in multilateral institutions such as the United Nations Security Council, making greater contributions to world peace and development.
