Zhao Shitong Attends China (Shaanxi)-Southeast Asia Business Dialogue

Xi'an, May 30th—China (Shaanxi)-Southeast Asia Business Dialogue was held here today. Zhao Shitong, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Chen Chunjiang, Deputy Governor of Shaanxi Province, Teresa Kok Suh Sim, Deputy Secretary-General of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), Member of Parliament of Malaysia and former Minister of Primary Industries, and others attended and addressed the function.  


Zhao Shitong said, in 2013, President Xi Jinping proposed building a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future. So far, China has reached consensus with seven Southeast Asian countries on building a community with a shared future, and has achieved fruitful results in the Belt and Road cooperation. Both sides have witnessed continuously strengthened economic, trade and investment ties as well as increasingly close cultural and technological exchanges. It is hoped that the political and business circles of all sides will build consensus, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the implementation of practical results.  

Chen Chunjiang said, Shaanxi Province stays committed to promoting large-scale development through large-scale opening up, and hopes to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN countries in economy, trade, investment, culture, education, etc., so as to achieve greater development.  

Teresa Kok Suh Sim said, ASEAN countries and China are interconnected and engage in mutually beneficial cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, and hope to strengthen exchanges with Chinese local governments and enterprises to realize win-win results.  

The dialogue was co-hosted by China Economic Cooperation Center (CECC), Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province, and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shaanxi Sub-council. Nearly 100 representatives of government departments, business associations and entrepreneurs from seven countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia and Singapore, as well as Shaanxi provincial, were present. After the meeting, Chinese and foreign companies had business matchmaking and achieved good results.
