Yinchuan, May 14th—The China-Spain political dialogue was held here today. Li Yifei, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, met with a delegation of the Congress of Deputies of Spain led by Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress of Deputies of Spain. Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), and Lei Dongsheng, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Secretary-General of the CPC Committee of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, attended the dialogue and delivered speeches. The dialogue was jointly organized by the IDCPC and the CPC Committee of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Nearly 50 people, including relevant officials from the Office of the Central Commission for Financial and Economic Affairs, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, local government and CPC institutions of Ningxia, and members of the Congress of Deputies of Spain, were present.
Lu said, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union (EU) and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Spain. President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez reached important consensus on building a more strategically resilient and dynamic bilateral relationship, which has charted the course for the future development of bilateral relations at a new historical starting point. The healthy and stable development of China-Spain relations cannot be separated from the political guidance and vigorous promotion of the two countries' political parties. We are willing to deepen strategic communication and ideological exchanges between Chinese and Spanish political parties through the China-Spain political dialogue, and jointly commit to promoting national development, enhancing people's well-being, strengthening international cooperation, and maintaining world peace, so as to elevate the China-Spain comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level.
Lei said, both Ningxia and Spain are at a critical stage of development and rejuvenation and are companions on the road to modernization. I sincerely hope that the dialogue will serve as a new starting point and both sides will promote bilateral cooperation to move towards to more sectors in a more thorough fashion under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, and inject new impetus into the cooperation between China and Spain and China and the EU under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Spanish representatives said, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Spain and China. Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has once again paid a successful visit to China, and bilateral cooperation continues to deepen in areas such as trade, culture, science and technology, and education. Spain is willing to work with China to forge a more strategically resilient and dynamic bilateral relationship, and to promote the sound and stable development of EU–China relations. In the face of a complex and volatile international situation, Spain and China share broad consensus in jointly upholding multilateralism and an open and inclusive international economic landscape. Spain stands ready to enhance mutual understanding through dialogue, embrace the future through cooperation, and work together to address global challenges such as climate change and digital transformation.
