Beijing, October 15th—Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today on the morning with Sir Oliver Robbins, Permanent Under-Secretary of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office of the UK.

Lu said, China has always attached importance to developing China-UK relations and is willing to work with the UK to implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and promote the building of a stable and mutually beneficial China-UK relationship. As permanent members of the UN Security Council and important economies in the world, China and the UK should adhere to true multilateralism, safeguard the international system with the UN at its core and the multilateral trading system with the WTO at its core, and jointly address global challenges. China encourages the UK to support the Global Governance Initiative. The CPC is willing to continue to strengthen exchanges with major British political parties through platforms such as the China-UK Senior Leadership Forum to enhance mutual understanding and trust.
Robbins said, the sound UK-China relationship is very important for today's world. The UK is committed to developing a long-term, consistent and strategic UK-China relationship and is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthen exchanges in all fields including the inter-party dialogue, deepen cooperation in areas such as economy, trade and climate change, and elevate the UK-China relations to a new level. The UK firmly supports free trade and multilateralism and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China on international affairs to make new contributions to maintaining world peace and development.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern.
