From March 8th to 10th, Lu Kang, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), led a delegation to visit Sweden. During the visit, he met respectively with Maria Malmer Stenergard, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden; Diana Janse, State Secretary to the Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Sweden; Morgan Johansson, the Social Democratic Party's foreign policy spokesperson and former Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden; and Kent Härstedt, former Member of Parliament. He also held discussions with scholars from think tanks including the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute.

Lu said that Sweden was the first Western country to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. China attaches importance to the role of China–Sweden cooperation under the current international situation and stands ready to work with Sweden to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote the continued development of bilateral relations. China’s Two Sessions, the annual sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), are reviewing the outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), China will focus on expanding domestic demand, driving innovation-led development and promoting green transformation, while further expanding high-level opening up. This will create important opportunities for China and Sweden to deepen practical cooperation. The CPC stands ready to deepen exchanges of experience in state governance and administration with major Swedish political parties, promote “political party +” practical cooperation, and enhance youth exchanges to contribute more wisdom and strength as political parties to China–Sweden relations. Lu also exchanged views with the Swedish side on the international order, the global security situation, China–Europe relations and relevant hotspot issues.

The Swedish side said, promoting the improvement and development of relations between Sweden and China is a consensus among the major political parties in Sweden. They are glad to see that the relations between the two countries are showing positive and constructive development momentum. The Swedish side adheres to the one-China policy, attaches great importance to China's significant role in today's international affairs, and highly commends China's development achievements and the certainty and stability it provides to the world. The Swedish side appreciates China's active cooperation in addressing climate change, its commitment to multilateralism and free trade, and its important breakthroughs in fields such as artificial intelligence. They are willing to seize the opportunities brought by China's 15th Five-Year Plan and expand cooperation with China in areas such as trade and investment, green transformation, and scientific and technological innovation. The Swedish political parties are willing to enhance exchanges and dialogues with the CPC at all levels, especially among young politicians, to increase mutual understanding and trust.
Wan Degang, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Sweden, and others attended the above activities.
