On September 10th, Ma Hui, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, led a delegation to visit Uruguay. He met respectively with Bettiana Díaz, Vice President of the Chamber of Senators of Uruguay; Fernando Pereira Kosec, President of the Broad Front of Uruguay; and Álvaro Delgado, President of the National Party of Uruguay. Ma and Pereira signed an exchange and cooperation agreement between the CPC and the Broad Front on behalf of respective parties.   

Ma said that over the 38 years since China and Uruguay established diplomatic relations, bilateral relations have weathered a changing international landscape, always developing in the right direction and becoming a model of harmonious coexistence and win-win cooperation between countries. The CPC is ready to strengthen exchanges of ideas, policy communication and experience sharing with political parties of Uruguay, carry out multi-level and wide-ranging exchanges and cooperation, and drive the steady and sustained development of the China-Uruguay comprehensive strategic partnership through inter-party channels. Ma also briefed the Uruguayan side on Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building and China's 15th Five-Year Plan, and exchanged views with the Uruguayan side on international and regional issues. 

The Uruguayan side said that President Yamandu Orsi's first state visit to China after taking office fully demonstrates Uruguay's great emphasis on developing relations with China. Major political parties in Uruguay all maintain friendly exchanges with the CPC, and are ready to continue deepening exchanges and mutual learning on party governance and state governance and cadre training, providing political guidance for the sustained development of Uruguay-China relations.
