The Communist Party of China has always adhered to a people-centered approach, continuously satisfying the needs of the people for a better life, and tirelessly striving to enhance the well-being of the people, said Azizi Abdujabbor Abdukahhor, first deputy chairman of the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan, in an interview with People’s Daily reporters. Under the CPC’s leadership, China has achieved remarkable development achievements that have captured the world’s attention, and will continue to stride forward along the broad path of high-quality development, he noted.  

Azizi has visited China multiple times, with each visit leaving a profound impression on him. In China, the profound historical and cultural heritage harmonizes with the rapidly evolving development landscape, he remarked. He believed that the key to China’s rapid economic and social development lies in its steadfast adherence to the CPC’s leadership. The success of various endeavors in China hinges on the strong leadership of the CPC. China has chosen the correct path of development, thereby earning widespread support and endorsement from the people, he explained.  

China has successfully won the battle against poverty, achieving the poverty reduction goals in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development a decade ahead of schedule. This is a remarkable achievement and a vivid manifestation of the CPC’s commitment to striving for the well-being of the people, Azizi expressed. He highlighted China’s active engagement in sharing its poverty alleviation experience with the international community, and strengthening cooperation in poverty reduction, thus making significant contributions to global poverty reduction and human development progress. He believed that while China has been committed to its own development, it has also actively promoted the common development of all countries and injected vital impetus into global sustainable development.  

Azizi highly appreciated China’s proposal of the concept of “whole-process people’s democracy” and the vigorous promotion of the construction of whole-process people’s democracy. He believed that people practicing democratic elections, consultations, decision-making, administration, and oversight in compliance with the law is a vivid practice and necessary path for the people to run their own affairs. This not only has distinct Chinese characteristics but also enriches and develops the forms of human political civilization.  

Democracy is the right of all peoples, not the patent of a few countries, Azizi said, emphasizing that each country should choose a development path suitable for its own national conditions. Instead of simply copying the Western democratic model, China has created the Chinese-style democracy, which has greatly boosted the confidence of developing countries in developing democracy and explored new paths for human democracy.  

Azizi is a faithful reader of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China. He believed that this work embodies the rich connotations of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, demonstrates the new concepts and strategies of the CPC’s state governance, and is rich in profound Chinese philosophy and historical and cultural heritage, opening an important window for the international community to understand and comprehend China.  

Azizi believed that President Xi Jinping’s proposals such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, and the Global Security Initiative have provided Chinese solutions for maintaining world peace and promoting shared development, injecting confidence and momentum into a peaceful and stable development environment and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. In the face of complex and ever-changing international situations and the lingering COVID-19 pandemic, China has actively facilitated global economic recovery, promoted a more robust, green, and healthy global development, demonstrating that China is always a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development, and a guardian of international order, he said.  

As a Chinese saying goes, “One needs good companions to travel with and good neighbors to live with.” China will always be a reliable and dependable neighbor, friend, and partner for Tajikistan, Azizi expressed, adding that over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties between Tajikistan and China, the two countries have made significant progress in their relationship, propelling the comprehensive strategic partnership between Tajikistan and China to new heights. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the two peoples have always stood together, united and cooperated in the fight against the pandemic. As of September last year, China has provided Tajikistan with six batches of 8.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines, fully reflecting the brotherly friendship of the two peoples in times of adversity.  

Azizi has participated in party-to-party exchange activities organized by the International Department of the IDCPC Central Committee on multiple occasions and highly praised the CPC for valuing exchanges and cooperation with political parties from various countries. He believed that the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan and the CPC have maintained friendly relations for many years, carrying out a series of cooperative projects with good results. We are willing to continue and further strengthen our ties with the CPC. This will contribute to strengthening the traditional friendship between the two countries, promoting the continued improvement of relations between the two Parties and the two countries, and enhancing the common interests and well-being of the two peoples, Azizi noted.
